Robots aren’t quite as in vogue in modern comics as they used to be. Gone are the days when your favorite hero was called upon to battle the tried and true menace of a 50-story mechanical villain every other month. But there are still good quality robot reads out there if you know where to look.


Atomic Robo Vol. 1 — Atomic Robo and the Fightin’ Scientists of Tesladyne (Red 5 Comics). One of the most acclaimed new indie series of the past year stars a wise-cracking robot adventurer created by Nikola Tesla now employed by the United States government as the first line of defense against supernatural weirdness.
