I remember Weezer. I remember it was a mystery. They were in Japan, Rivers was at Harvard finishing his degree, no one really could say for sure what was going on. Regardless it was like waiting for Jesus to return, and then Jesus — I mean Weezer returned in 2001 and you learned there wasn’t anything worth waiting for.
Somewhere along the line Rivers Cuomo (Weezer) became aware he could make money without having to make an album on par with “Pinkerton” in terms of emotional depth. And like someone with a deep seeded emotional problem he decided to make a joke out of everything.
